Here is an online version of the risk register that was developed by the partners of the project, led by BRGM. A risk register is essentially a list of all plausible risks faced by developers of deep geothermal projects. Each risk is accompanied by corresponding de-risking measures. You can access more details for each risk by clicking on the descriptions. You can filter the list by selecting / unselecting phases and / or categories on the left.

This register serves as a starting point for developing a risk management framework adapted to the needs of a particular project by selecting the more appropriate risks from the list. You can download the register as a spreadsheet for your own risk assessment here. In addition, stakeholders from the GEORISK countries have answered a survey regarding a ranking of these risks. You can consult the result of the survey here

A few remarks:

• The risk are framed in a broad way so may need to be adapted to each site.
• Some risks may overlap with other risks: this is a feature, in order to make sure that as little situations as possible are omitted.
• Some risks can cause other risks in the list: the register does not include a sense of hierarchy and treats all risks at the same level. Each individual risk should be perceived as an event that should be prevented.
